Senior CAE Engineer - Function Development

As SENIOR CAE ENGINEER - FUNCTION DEVELOPMENT within the department Vehicle Concepts and Electrification Strategy you will be the department's competence and resource for conceptual simulations within the area of functionality and controls. You will also be a key player in developing the functionality and controls for the complete vehicle in cooperation with colleges responsible for specific areas. In the future cars we need to focus even more on optimising the car. One way is by lifting customer related functionality to complete vehicle level where optimisations and trade offs can be done. The importance of leading and coordinating the function and controls development across different development areas is constantly increasing. You will be part of a small department with experienced engineers with complementary skills.
The department Vehicle Concepts and Electrification Strategy is responsible for developing Volvo's car platforms over time from a complete vehicle perspective in cooperation with design, development units, attribute leaders and manufacturing engineers.
Job profile:
• Act as the departments competence and resource for conceptual simulations within the area of functionality and controls
• Lead and participate in cross functional analysis and optimisation work across related function areas (e.g. powertrain, climate, active safety etc)
• Perform simulations within the area
• Define needs of and requirements on simulation models to support conceptual development in early phases
• Define processes to efficiently find optimal, requirement based, solutions for complex systems
• Cooperate with CAE engineers and concept engineers within other technical disciplines to achieve cross functional optimisation
• Contribute to the development of the functional architecture for the complete vehicle
• Lead the simulation and analysis work across development units and attribute centres at complete vehicle level
• Develop and deploy working processes and methods in cooperation with other stakeholders
• You will cooperate with a large number of colleagues within product development
Your profile:
• M.Sc. degree in engineering, or equivalent, focused on system and controls development
• At least 5 years of experience in the area of complex customer related real time systems
• Excellent skills in Matlab Simulink and experience from model based function development, preferable from the automotive industry
• Ability to conduct your own simulations to verify ideas and to enable efficient cooperation with other CAE engineers in the area
• Genuine interest in cars is important
• Good holistic view
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent in English (spoken and written)
