MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.



Tasks:

The succesful candidate will finish the implementation of the synchronization of gas pulsing to electron detection on hardware and software level at SPECIES beamline, especially for TAPXPS experiments.

The candidate will participate in the commissioning of the SPECIES beamline and its APXPS end station. The candidate will participate in TAP experiments at University of Oslo and related beamtimes at MAX IV and other facilities. The candidate will participate in designing equipment for TAPXPS and related experiments at MAX IV.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or another field relevant for the project / beamline
• At least 5 years of experience in APXPS (especially working with APXPS cells) and commissioning, operation and maintenance of APXPS system(s)
• Experience in catalysis research with APXPS
• Experience in working at SR facilities as a user and/or member of staff
• Programming skills (Python etc
• Good English language skills
• Working with and maintenance of UHV equipment
• Electronics skills (basic)
• Good knowledge and experience in XPS data analysis (preferrably Igor Pro)

The following qualifcations are considered to be an asset:

• Experience in performing TAP experiments
• Knowledge of TAP technique
• Experience in working with delay line detectors

This is a 6 months temporary employment.
