hela Sverige Are you a curious scientist with a background and proven skills in molecular biology and recombinant protein expression? Are you looking for a position where you can apply these skills, leading from the bench in an excellent team of scientists next to you? If yes, this might be the role for you!
We have an opportunity for a motivated Scientist to join the Protein Expression Team within Protein Sciences, Discovery Biology at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. Welcome to join a great team, whose remit is to support drug discovery projects globally with delivery of impactful recombinant protein reagents used for disease target identification and validation right through to clinical candidate evaluation.
As part of the Discovery Biology organisation, you will be working within a vibrant scientific environment to support drug discovery. We push scientific advances in small molecules, oligonucleotides as well as other emerging technologies, always with a view to providing medicines to improve patient care. The Protein Sciences Department in Discovery Sciences is responsible for the generation of novel reagents and assays to support projects in the drug discovery pipeline from target discovery all the way to clinical candidate.
Thrive in a place where the brightest and most curious minds seamlessly come together in our inclusive environment.
What you will do:
This is a lab-based role, generating bespoke protein reagents to support projects in all phases of the discovery process. The role involves design of DNA constructs, expression screening in eukaryotic hosts, large scale expression, and purification of recombinant proteins to supply bioreagents to assay development, affinity screening and structure-based drug discovery.
You will plan and conduct experimental strategies, generate, interpret, and report scientific data autonomously or in collaboration with colleagues. In addition, you will make a significant contribution to the development and application of novel science to advance our capabilities in the generation of recombinant protein reagents used in early drug discovery.
Essential in the role:
* Bachelor/Master in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related field, or 4 years of relevant working experience within Biotechnology.
* Substantial expertise in cell culture for recombinant protein expression in a variety of eukaryotic cell types such HEK293 and CHO, at scales from 1ml to 20L.
* Maintain an awareness of relevant scientific and technical advances to help see opportunities for capability development.
We also see our new colleague as a person who thinks creatively and holds enthusiasm and curiosity towards scientific questions and learning new skills. You can work in an independent and goal-oriented way, but you also enjoy team work and have the ability to communicate and collaborate in a global setting with cross-functional groups.
Desirable in the role:
* Experience in expression of recombinant expressed proteins in baculovirus-infected insect cells.
* Experience in use of automation equipment such as liquid handling platforms is desirable.
* Experience in recombinant expression of membrane proteins.
* Good understanding of drug discovery and how to contribute with scientific expertise within own area of expertise to drive project progression.
