The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects. In addition, the IBO Diploma Programme is also offered through IB School South on the same campus. Thus with ISSR and IB School South our students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.

This fall ISSR will need a school counselor for students ranging from 5-19 years of age. The position will be 50% initially with a gradual increase as the student body grows. The counselor will be a part of the student care team and will work together with teachers and administrators to monitor the social/emotional needs of the ISSR student body. A key component of the position is to participate in a team which actively works to create a learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to reach their academic goals and develop socially and emotionally. School counselors accomplish their goals through cooperation and collaboration with others inside and outside of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
• Work with groups of students with acute needs as well as provide preventive interventions.
• Conduct professional conversations with individual students and their families.
• Member of the student health care team.
• Participate in class and transitional planning conferences.
• Participating in establishing, implementing and revising intervention plans.
• Collaborate with community resources (social services, psychiatric services, law enforcement, young health care centers, etc.)
A qualified candidate will be:
• A university degree in social work with certification from Sweden or a native English speaking country with translation from Högskolaverket
• Fluent in Swedish and English (speaking and writing mandatory) SAS 3 or TISUS required for consideration.
Löneform: Månadslön.
Anställningsform: Tillsvidare.
Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs. A qualified candidate will be:
• International and/or IB teaching experience
• Highly competent with IT (Windows platform, Smartboard, HTML, and other tools for learning).
Varaktighet: Tillsvidare.
Arbetstid: Dagtid.
