The purpose of the councelling evenings is to provide vulnerable EU-citizens with guidance and advice on how Swedish society works, help them get in contact with health care and emergency dental care services, assist in job search etc. We have interpreting assistants who speak Bulgarian and Romanian. We also serve simple meals and provide clothing and toiletries.
As an interpreting assistant your main task is face-to-face interpretation and translation from either Romanian or Bulgarian to Swedish or English between clients and staff, physicians, nurses and volunteers. Our communication with clients is totally dependent on our interpreting assistants. Duties may vary but is mainly translating orally and/or in writing in situations including individual meetings or in large groups.
We are looking for interpreting assistants who speak Romanian, Bulgarian or Romani for hourly employment at counselling evenings organized by Crossroads. Other languages of the Balkan countries are also of interest.Crossroads is a meeting place for vulnerable EU-citizens who earn their living by begging. It is a collaborative project between Linköpings Stadsmission, Linköpings kommun, Svenska kyrkan and parishes in Linköping.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who speaks Romanian, Bulgarian or Romani. You have at least a secondary school diploma.
Personality
To be suitable for this job, we would expect you to have an understanding and respect for our clients and we place great importance on your personality and attitude towards people who are in a vulnerable situation. As an interpreting assistant you must be able to set limits, be impartial and maintain a professional distance in your work. We offer a shorter interpreting course at the beginning of your employment. It is desirable if you have previous knowledge of the client group, social work with homeless- or disadvantaged people.
