The postholder will be required to participate in the company's projects and conduct independent research on spatial aspects of economic policy, including cluster policy and regional development. The post includes administration and statistical processing of large amounts of spatial data allowing for econometric evaluation of spatial policies. The postholder will take responsibility for the major part of research design and writing up of one or more of the projects. In addition to working on the projects, the post holder will participate in customer relations and conduct presentations to prospective clients.
Qualifications:
The eligible candidate must have or be within one year of completion of a PhD degree in Economics, Business Administration or another quantitative social science. The candidate must possess the experience of execution and write-up of independent research projects.
The candidate must have experience in handling massive spatial databases (preferably using PostgreSQL) and be able to analyse spatial data using the R statistical package. The candidate must have a solid understanding of spatial econometrics and statistics, in particular of the analysis of spatial point patterns. Experience with spatial point process modelling and knowledge of C/C++ programming languages are advantageous.
The candidate must have a very good command of the English language both spoken and written, and preferably have experience in presenting and/or teaching.
