It is our vision to be leaders in Europe in developing and spreading new technology and knowledge that reinforce the international competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. JTH offers education at bachelor, masters and doctoral levels (first, second and third-cycle levels), and 2-year courses at university college level and higher vocational education level. Contact with industry is an important part of our education in order to ensure that the education is anchored in reality, and to acquire practical experience. Research and third-cycle education are targeted at Industrial product realisation in cooperation. Research takes place in collaboration with companies, research institutes and other university colleges of technology, in common projects.
The School of Engineering is currently recruiting a professor or associate professor in the area of lighting research.
Job description
The position is part of the Built Environment area within the school and will focus on how properties of light influences and affects the human perception and experience of the room. The research will contain both theoretical and practical aspects, involving measurement and methodology development.
The research is applied in different environments and also conducted in close cooperation with relevant other disciplines within engineering and medicine. A close cooperation with relevant companies is also one of the foundations of the work within the School of Engineering. Other integral parts of the research activities are to apply for research grants from external funding agencies, as well as supervision of PhD and master students. Depending on circumstances, a certain amount of teaching may also be part of the role.
Qualifications
We are looking for researchers with a strong track record in the area of light and lighting design and research, as well as having experience from cross-disciplinary research in cooperation with companies.
The following qualifications are mandatory for all applicants:
• Doctoral degree in lighting design. Related areas are also of interest, such as environmental psychology or relevant architectural or design research
• Publications in relevant international scientific journals
• Proven experience of teaching in amounting to at least one year full-time teaching
• Pedagogical education or equivalent, as well as evidence of pedagogical skills
• Experience from multidisciplinary collaboration
• Fluency in written and spoken English and proven ability to teach and examine courses using English at the university level
• Experience in writing research grant applications, in collaborating internationally in research, and in collaborating and interacting with private, public and voluntary sector organizations
The following qualities are considered as merits that are highly valued for the position:
• Experience from supervision of master and PhD students
• Knowledge about Swedish and European funding agencies
• Management experience from academia or industry
