Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them. The Institute is composed of the following five departments: . The Department of Infectious Diseases . The Department of Microbiology and Immunology . The Department of Pathology and Genetics . The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine . The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets. We are now looking for a researcher in cancer genomics, with special focus on bioinformatics analyses of signals of selection in somatic mutation data from tumors. Job assignments: Analysis of mutation data from large scale genomic studies, with the aim for uncovering genes that are important for the survival of tumor cells. In particular, signals that indicate positive or negative selection will be studied. New bioinformatics methodology, required for these studies, will be developed.
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer:
PhD in a relevant area. Good knowledge of bioinformatics and statistics. Medical knowledge and experience with cancer research is desirable.
