Our exciting opportunity!
We are looking for a driven, knowledgeable and creative researcher to strengthen our efforts in concept development and standardization of 5G and 6G systems. In these areas, we work together in diverse teams to define and realize new capabilities for future mobile networks, which are used by billions of people worldwide. This includes further improving the network performance for mobile broadband, massive and critical communication services as well as new use cases for next generation radio networks.
In our unit at Ericsson Research, Research Area Networks, we have the mission to develop and drive outstanding procedures, protocols and architecture solutions for current and future wireless systems.
As a researcher in 5G/6G standardization, you will be working in an international team of world-class researchers with different backgrounds and experiences, including some of the key authorities and technology leaders in mobile communication. The work comprises global standardization in 3GPP, either as a delegate attending the standardization meetings, or as part of the back-office developing concepts. You will write contributions to the standards and protect your ideas in patents. You will invent new concepts and solutions for 5G and 6G radio networks, and will be involved in evaluating their performance using state-of-the-art test beds or radio network system simulators.
The positions are based in Ericsson's headquarters in Kista outside Stockholm.
Competencies we are looking for:
Excitement to work in an environment where you collaborate closely in a diverse team, together striving to fulfil common targets according to set strategies.
Ability to connect with people and to explain and convey your findings and knowledge to others.
Excellent analytical skills and eagerness to find innovative solutions to sophisticated problems.
Passion about, and in-depth understanding of digital and wireless communication and cellular systems design.
Ability to put theory into practice, using and developing simulation tools for evaluating new ground-breaking ideas, and/or building proof-of-concept demonstrations.
Experience from standardization, especially in 3GPP is highly appreciated.
MSc or PhD degree in electrical engineering, automatic control, engineering physics, computer science or related fields. Newly graduated or with some work experience.
Experience from independent research work.
