The department of Surgery includes clinical and expermental research at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and at Sahlgrenska Academy. The department is also responsible for teaching and education at several University programs such as the surgical semester of the "Läkarprogrammet". We perform research regarding gastrointestinal cancer. The research is translational with clinical studies, collection of tissue in biobanks, in vitro studies on human cell lines and in vivo studies in different model systems. The aim of the research is to improve diagnostics and treatment of cancer.
Job assignments
The work as a researcher involves initiating and performing research within the field of cancer, expecially pancreas cacncer, and applying for external research funding. The researcher shall together with other researchers and clinical researchers lead projects where blood samples and tissue samples are taken care of in a biobank to perform translational projects to study bio markers and for in vitro and in vivo studies on human pancreatic tumours. Tutoring and teaching students in medicine and doctoral students. The position is at the department of surgery at the institute of clinical sciences.
Qualifications
The applicant must have a doctoral degree in a relevant subject. Documented experience with work on transgene mice, in vitro studies in cell lines and experimental studies of pancreatic cancer is a demand. Basic knowledge in studies on inflammatory mechanisms and autophagocytosis in pancreas, handling of blood samples for studies of circulating tumour cells and tests with kras-induced pancreatic cancer in mice is a merit. The applicant is expected to be able to cooperate well with other researchers within a larger team, therefore good social skills are needed. Personal suitability will be considered as of great importance.

The employment is Permanent at full time and is placed at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, Gothenburg. Starting date; As soon as possible.
