SEI is an independent, international research institute founded in 1989. Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development. In January 2012, SEI was ranked number eight out of the world's top environment think tanks in the 2011 Global Go To Think Tank Report, compiled by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.
SEI has about 180 staff members working at research centres around the world. SEI headquarters are located in Stockholm, Sweden, where we also have the Stockholm Centre with approximately 60 staff members.
Profile:
SEI has a growing international research portfolio in the fields of energy systems, climate change policy and global development. Through our programme we are supporting governments and multilateral agencies, development banks and other high level change agents around the world. We now need to expand our team. We are recruiting a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow in Economics and policy analysis with strong skills in energy and climate issues. The new position presents an opportunity to join a leading research institute and contribute to the management of a growing dynamic research environment, with flexibility to follow one's own interests. The level of the position will be determined based on the qualification of the selected candidate.
The successful candidate will:
• Strengthen SEI's global economics and policy analysis capacity
• Lead SEI's engagement in specific strategic policy support processes related to climate change, energy systems and global development.
• Contribute to project, programme and strategy development world wide
Specific responsibilities include:
• Plan, develop and implement innovative research projects addressing policies and actions to towards low carbon / sustainable development.
• Maintain and build relationships with funders and partners; find and secure new funding opportunities.
• Manage, mentor, and collaborate with staff researchers, provide regular guidance and feedback to colleagues across SEI.
• Explore joint research opportunities and collaborate with colleagues at other SEI centres.
• Review and manage project outputs from the research team, including publications and other materials to ensure they meet the project objectives and SEI quality standards.
• Present research results externally and raise the profile of SEI research
