Job Summary
GTC Research Engineer - System Modeling and simulation
GTC in Trollhättan, Sweden, is now looking for a Research Engineer with focus on system modeling and simulation with a passion for aerospace and new technologies.
Our department System Analysis and Intellectual Property is at the forefront of advancing and analysing next generation sustainable aero engine concepts and system capabilities. We also support our business and marketing organizations with input for decision-making and strategic plans. We are now looking for a new passionate and visionary team member that want to be part of the journey to shape the future of flight.
Job Responsibilities
As a System Modelling and Simulation Engineer, you will work with the modelling of physical systems to support the development of next generation aero engine concepts and technologies. Your main responsibilities will be:
• Develop multiphysics-based models of aircraft- and aero engine sub-systems
• Utilizing DOE, optimization, and statistical methods to correlate simulation data to experimental data
• Interact with relevant disciplines e.g. aerodynamics, turbomachinery, mechanical, electrical engineering, thermal management, materials, controls, lifecycle assessment and sustainability
• Develop technology sensitivity parameters for trade studies
• Ensure proper documentation of technical results and present the results internally and externally
• Support our technology teams
• Participate in, and by time, lead collaborative research programs with partners within the GKN Aerospace ECO system
• Contribute to the development of GKN Aerospace as a 'Great Place to Work', aligned with our cultural principles - safe, innovative, open & honest, respect & care and ownership
You will perform this work in close collaboration with team colleagues as part of internal technology development projects and bilateral or multilateral research projects.
Job Qualifications
• Broad understanding of physical phenomena
• Strong interest and capability in understanding and finding solutions to complex multi-disciplinary problems.
• Deep interest in modelling physical phenomena
• Experience leading research projects
• Interest in working in aerospace.
• You have a strong interest for multiphysics and multidisciplinary design tools and methods
• You have an ambition and capability to drive technology projects internally and externally in close collaboration with academic research and partner programs
• You have good ability to communicate and present plans and results internally as well as externally with our partners
• You have good social skills, the ability to create effective networks and can take on a technical responsibility role
• You are proficient in the English language
• A genuine interest for aircraft and aircraft engines is beneficial
• Experience from programming languages such as C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab/Simulink
• You are willing to support University research including Internships and Masters projects and PhD students
• You want to develop learning internally and in collaboration with academia
Required education
• PhD in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, engineering physics or other relevant engineering degree from an accredited university
Travel requirements
This position is based in Sweden, as such the applicant should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU, UK and US is expected.
