We're now looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist within the chemicals area to provide expert support to all divisions within SMS, empowering our efforts in creating a safe and healthy work environment and participation in industry forums' activities and advocacy - aiming to maximize understanding and minimize risk from exposure for every coworker, with special focus on cobalt.

About the job
In this position, you coordinate SMS's work in responsible business where you ensure that we're aware of chemicals related happenings, with a focus on cobalt. You act as our representative in external forums such as ITIA (International Tungsten Industry Association) and CI (Cobalt Institute) - ordering research materials, participating in discussions on how to manage chemicals, and taking relevant information and findings back to the organization.
In collaboration with representatives from the different divisions, you take the lead and secure how the chemical policy is driven at a company level and you're responsible for the strategic development in this area. To label and classify our products in a correct way, using safety information sheets is an important part of your job, as is carrying out education and presentations internally to make sure that we always handle cobalt and other chemicals as safely as possible and according to accurate legislations.
The location for this position is flexible, preferably within Sweden. You need to make frequent visits to our site in Fagersta, Sweden and other planned travel is also part of your job.
Your profile
We're looking for someone with a degree in Chemical Engineering or Legal Studies, or equal experience gained from a working career. You have a background from a similar area of expertise, and knowledge of European legislation of chemicals is a must, while knowledge of American legislation of chemicals is an advantage. As we're a truly global organization you need excellent English skills, and we consider knowledge of Swedish a plus.
You're a true people-person and with your excellent communicative skills, you can explain complex matters so that others understand. With a transparent way of working, you keep an open dialog with people around you - ensuring that we always make the correct decisions. Your working style is independent but you're naturally a team player, who truly believe that the best solutions come from joining forces and working together!
