Stem Cell Biologist
We are now looking for a Senior Research Scientist for an assignment at AstraZeneca.

The Arena:

The Regenerative Medicine/Stem Cell Biologist supports projects with scientific input in the in vitro strategy and delivers key in vitro data. The successful candidate has a broad expertise in cell and molecular biology. She/He independently designs and conduct in vitro experiments and analyzes & evaluates the data. In addition she/he presents the data at team and project meetings.

Key Deliverables

• Carry out entirely lab based tasks to deliver key in vitro and ex vivo data to project teams within the agreed timelines and to the right quality.
• Tasks and responsibilities/The role:
• Independently carry out and develop in vitro and ex vivo assays for projects from pre-Target Identification to early clinical phase. The assays are both cellular and non-cellular assays.
• Independently design and execute in vitro or ex vivo experiments.
• Statistical analysis and interpretation of generated data.
• Presentation of data at the team and project team level.
• Identify and explore novel target ideas.
• Document the work according to AstraZeneca standards, and prepare the preclinical pharmacology part of regulatory documents as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with other scientists within in vivo, DMPK, etc, as required to ensure flow-scheme connectivity and translatability between in vivo and in vitro models.
• Work collaboratively within the department Bioscience and the entire internal research organization Innovative Medicines (iMed) to deliver on project key questions.
• Contribute proactively to a vibrant and innovative working environment where improvements and new ideas are adopted and freely shared.
• Minimum requirements
• Deep understanding of cell biology, biochemistry and relevant in vitro/ex vivo assays.
• Experience in standard cell and molecular biology techniques such as Western blot, ELISA QPCR, Cell transfection, cloning, Isolation and culturing of cardiac cells. Cell signalling expertise.
• Experience in handling and manipulating relevant cardiac cells including stem cells and cardiac progenitor cells.
• Statistical analysis of data.
• Scientific knowledge in the Heart Failure and Myocardial Infarction field is desirable but not requested.
• Fluent in English, oral and in writing.

Education

Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in biology. The suitable candidate has completed a university degree and have 3-5 year experience in a relevant field of science.

Please note that this is an entirely lab based assignment.
