Raw material is part of business controlling at Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing. We develop and deploy raw material market expertise, tools, methods and governance. These enable the Volvo Group to secure and enhance its raw material related performance and thus provide a competitive advantage to its brands.
Our team of 10 is globally spread across Asia, Europe and the Americas and is considered a center of excellence on raw material (commodity) markets. As part of our scope today, we cover various materials like flat steel, iron castings, forging steel, base metals, precious metals, plastics, rubber, new battery materials etc. Our expertise is used to support and control Volvo Group Purchasing, to ensure Volvo Group's competitiveness and eventually our customers' success. Job Description
Now, we have an opening in Plastics & Chemicals and we are looking for a person to join us in our journey together. This position is to be the center of expertise when it comes to knowledge on the raw material market for plastics & chemicals across our major geographies i.e., Europe, Americas and Asia.
As part of the job, you will use internal and external business intelligence to consolidate understanding of the commodity market in this area, you will perform value chain analysis to provide insights to the organisation on the influence of factors influencing market prices. Based on identified, reliable business intelligence you will provide periodic market price forecasts. You will on a regular basis support buyers in negotiation, participate in cost workshops, supply chain activities, and provide contractual guidance to the Volvo Group Purchasing organization. Keeping sustainability in perspective on these commodities, is key. You will co-drive with the segment/lead buyer(s) the raw material strategies within Volvo Group Purchasing.

Required knowledge/experience
In this position you will be part of the raw material business controlling team and report to the head of raw material. To be successful in your new role it'd be helpful if you had the following knowledge/experience:
University/Master's degree in science/engineering (preferably in plastics/chemicals), economics or finance
Commodity market knowledge or experience in plastics/chemicals
Analytical & critical thinking
Ability to work efficiently independently as well as in a team
Fluent English, written and spoken
