Our Exciting Opportunity:

Our Network Simulations Section is part of the PEU Radio System & Technology department (RST) and contributes to the product definition and network evolution processes inside Ericsson.

We are responsible for performing radio system level simulations in the early phase of multi-standard radio product development, including driving and evaluating concept studies, generation and analysis of network data, and securing characteristics through involvement in the product development and testing phases. Our group contributes to the 3GPP RAN4 and regulatory spectrum standardization work.

As a System Engineer within the Network Simulations section, you will contribute to the defining and evaluation process of the radio performance characteristics and requirements of our future products through system level simulations. Your simulation work will provide input internally for product development as well as externally for 3GPP and spectrum standardization activities. You will p for network evolution into the upcoming technology generations 5G, 6G, etc., and act as an interface to Product line management. The work may also include link/system simulators and algorithm development for 3GPP LTE Advanced, 5G NR (New Radio) wireless technologies and the future 6G.

You will:
• Perform system level simulations to evaluate different customer deployment scenarios for AAS (Active/Advanced Antenna Systems) and PAS (Passive Radio Systems) radio products and provide strategy input improvement to product line organization.
• Support 3GPP and regulatory spectrum standardization of new frequency bands for the mobile industry with systems level-, network level- as well as link level simulations whenever needed.
• Propose and implement simulation models of the radio product and perform evaluation of the proposed solution.
• Based on available customer data and whenever needed propose and perform data-driven simulation studies and predevelopments within the early phase projects in Radio.

To be successful in the role you have:
• MSc or PhD degree in Wireless Communications, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or similar technical field.
• Excellent English Skills both verbally and in writing.
• Programming skills (Matlab/python3.x, C++ (optional)), 2 years coding experience is preferred.
• Linux and basic scripting skills as well as software version control tools such as GIT.
• Knowledge on LTE and 5G NR L2, L1 and physical layer (post IFFT in downlink, for example); RF knowledge is an add-on.
• Basic knowledge on antenna modelling.
• General knowledge on 4G/5G radio access network and wireless communication.
• Work experience from system and/or link level simulation within radio base station development is preferred.
• Some experience with data driven analysis, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an add-on.
• Advanced negotiation skills to be successful with proposed changes and improvements to future products.
• You should have strong analytical skills to be used in problem solving.
• The daily work requires good team working skills.
• A successful applicant should be open-minded, take decisions and achieve results in a complex organization.
