We are looking for a R&D Senior Engineer Electrical to expand our global product development team for rail and e-mobility. You will contribute significantly to successful project results in technology and product development by identifying, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
Your responsibilities
Making the electromagnetic design of motors in product and technology development projects, including thermal simulation to verify the design to ensure alignment with project and specification targets.
Working in interdisciplinary R&D project teams as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to colleagues and more junior team members acting as a mentor and sharing lessons learned.
Maintain a solid understanding of the drivers, as well as state- of-the art technologies, tools and methods in own competence area. Actively seek and implement initiatives to improve.
Monitoring technology developments and ABB products and technologies, and identifying technical drivers for R&D projects.
Provide consulting services to business operations and customers within own area of expertise.
Represent own group/team in Engineering forums, both internal and external to ABB.
Contributing to discussions of intellectual property and developing project IP-clearance reports.
Identifying risks in R&D projects and suggesting mitigations.
Your background
A university degree in Engineering, specializing in electric power conversion or electrical design and analysis.
A minimum of three years of experience, preferably in vehicle industry, working as design or development engineer with rotating machines, power converters or drivelines.
Good knowledge of electrical design and numerical analysis.
Good knowledge of motor and converter interaction.
Knowledge of thermal design and modeling both analytical and numerical.
Fluent in English, written and spoken alike, whereas knowledge of Swedish is preferred.
Strong team spirit, individual and structured leadership to deliver expected results on time, on budget and with high quality.
