You will be part of Corporate Research in Västerås. We are the largest research center within ABB with world class expertise and state-of-the-art resources to support innovation in the areas of both power technology and automation. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
Tasks
Are you looking for a creative role where you will manage advanced acoustics, vibrations, and structural-acoustics challenges? As an acoustics scientist, you will be part of the Applied Mechanics Team. Our mission is to provide expertise in applied mechanics on a consulting basis to business units worldwide and across our entire product range. You will strengthen our team in the field of Acoustics application on typical power products and participate in various projects that differ in scope, length and characteristics, where you will manage several project simultaneously and be responsible for the whole project chain - from client discussion and planning - to execution. An important part of your role is to understand our customers' needs and challenges, to create optimal solutions, and to implement technology trends.
Further, you will actively contribute to the development of the team in various aspects such as our way-of-working, the quality of our results as well as our culture and team spirit.
This position gives you great possibilities to drive your own ideas while you deepen your knowledge and broaden your network. To reach your goals, you will have access to state-of-art acoustics equipment and facilities, modern analysis tools, and work closely with colleagues in the acoustics and Multiphysics team, experts in other technical fields within SECRC, as well as many of our business units.
Qualifications
You preferably hold a PhD in Acoustics, and have a solid background in modern acoustics experimental methods and you should also be acquainted with modern analytical and computational approaches. Experience from a consulting business as well as project management, is preferable. If you also have experience from ABB or a similar manufacturing industry, it is valuable. Fluency in English is a must, written and spoken alike. If you are proficient in Swedish it is a plus.
To succeed you need to be driven with a focus on result and execution, as well as on the customer. With your analytical mindset, attention to details and your strong interest in technology, you propose solutions. Since you are a natural team player with great collaborative and communicative skills, you contribute to your teams' great performance.
