General Information: The challenge: Do you have an eye for details and feasible solutions? Are you interested in mechanical design and want to strengthen our competent team? ABB Components is entrusted with the privilege to run strategic development of bushings for high voltage levels in AC and DC. We are the technical lead center turning basic technology and new concepts into groundbreaking products in order to meet customers' needs and the challenges on the market. As Research and Development Engineer, you will get the opportunity to create new mechanical solutions and follow the process through from development of ideas to completion of new products with smart manufacturing. Your well developed sense for material selection, design, assembly and handling is crucial for our success. You will work with mechanical design, production adjustments and further our development in these areas. You will also ensure product performance and usability.
Apart from being the world's leading manufacturer of bushings, we have new and exciting product areas in sight. You will work in projects and collaborate with our business units and research centers in Sweden and abroad. The dynamic environment enables you to become a specialist in mechanical design & production.
The requirements: You hold a Mechanical Engineering degree. You need to be proficient in English and Swedish - written and spoken alike. It is considered extremely valuable if you previously have worked with Aluminum and alloys. Experience within design and development of high voltage products, preferably within the manufacturing industry will be counted to your advantage. It is also positive if you have worked with ProE-WF3 and ERP-LN or similar programs. You have a broad technical interest and enjoy working
practically as well as strategically. On a personal level, you are a driven and result oriented team player with the ability to turn problems into opportunities.
You will be part of ABB Components in Ludvika. We have manufactured transformer components like tap changers and bushings since the beginning of the 20th century and we are ABB's primary manufacturer of the products. The business unit is also responsible for research and development of these products and is located in Ludvika, ABB's world center for high voltage technology. We have seen an enormous development during the last decade and envision a positive future. The development of material is key for future solutions and gives us opportunities to create new concepts.
