We at Outokumpu are now looking for a Senior Research & Development Manager for the Physical Metallurgy team within the Global R&D organization.
As a leader of other leaders, the role is to lead, manage and develop the Physical Metallurgy team. Your main focus will be to manage, drive and prioritize Product related process development and optimization to support the strategic targets of the Business units. As part of the R&D management team you contribute to the R&D strategy, being business & customer oriented.
Main responsibilities include:
Lead the global Physical Metallurgy department by setting objectives and prioritize tasks
Steering the R&D project portfolio and managing resource allocation together with the R&D Management team
Develop the R&D department team in terms of functional expertise and performance improvement
Drive strategic development within product related stainless steel's process development for Outokumpu's production units
Initiate material analysis and alloy development work within R&D to investigate material properties linked to process routes and process parameters
Responsible for further development of laboratories and equipment within department
Qualifications:
M.Sc./Ph.D. in material science, metallurgy, chemistry, or another relevant field
Experienced in leadership and people management
Relevant experience in stainless steel
Experience in cross-functional work in a multi-national environment is an advantage
You thrive by innovation and you are focused on solutions, not on problems with capacity to have a helicopter perspective
Very good ability to communicate and cooperate with colleagues and stakeholders
Fluent in English and preferably also in Swedish, German or Finnish
The position can be based in any of Outokumpu's R&D sites in Avesta, Sweden, Krefeld, Germany or Tornio, Finland.
