hela Sverige Mälardalen University is one of Swedens large institutes of higher education. The University has over 13,000 students studying our 51 programmes and 1,000 courses, and almost 900 faculty and staff. MDH is characterised by close partnerships with businesses and the public sector. Embedded Systems is one of two research directions at the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering at MDH in Västerås, Sweden. Embedded Systems is the most prominent research profile at MDH, and a national leader in embedded systems-related research. Embedded Systems is a large and highly collaborative environment where the 14 research groups all specialize in different aspects of embedded-systems development. We use our diverse and deep competence in embedded-systems development to form strong alliances within Embedded Systems and with external partners (both industrial and academic), to be able to take on big challenges and large projects.
Embedded Systems is together with Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) announcing the position as "The Volvo Chair of Vehicular Software and Electronic Architecture". The position is jointly funded by MDH, Volvo CE, and The Knowledge Foundation (KKS), and is fully funded for three years. During that period it is expected that the professor will build research within the specialization of software and system architectures for ground vehicles. Especially it is expected that the professor forms new cooperative projects with AB Volvo, within the "Academic Preferred Partner program" (APP) of AB Volvo, in which MDH is a preferred partner for embedded systems research.
We seek a candidate with proven scientific competence and teaching skills, and a track record of successful industrial collaborative research projects. Active involvement in the development of the ES environment is expected. The professor is further expected to attract external funding to finance his or her own research activities as well as other group research activities beyond the provided initial funding. High-quality infrastructure for research and for attracting research funding is provided
