The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.

Research group
The Petter Brodin research group located at Science for Life Laboratory in Stockholm and affiliated with the unit of clinical pediatrics, Dept of Women's and Children's health, Karolinska Institutet, develops and applies experimental and computational research methods for systems-level analyses of human immune systems.

The aim of the group is to understand human immune system variation in health and disease (Brodin & Davis, Nat. Rev Imm 2017) and the regulatory mechanisms underlying such variation and adaptation to environmental influences (Brodin et al, Cell 2015). A particular focus of the group is to understand immune systems development in early life (Olin et al, Cell 2018).

The postdoc project
The current project will be focused on the analysis of longitudinal high-dimensional data from mass cytometry, plasma protein profiling as well as RNA sequencing, from longitudinal samples of newborn children. The aim is to assess specific changes occurring early in life and to associate these with changes in environmental influences such as the microbiome.

Skills and personal qualities
The successful candidate should have a PhD in life sciences. Experiences with high-dimensional data analysis is essential. Experience of immunological research is a strong benefit but not a requirements. The ability to work with people of different backgrounds, and contribute to a project team is important. Strong proficiency in computational analysis is essential, experience with analysis using R and python languages are important given the existing pipelines within the research group.

Assessment criteria
A selection will be made among qualified applicants on the basis of the following criteria:

- Documented subject knowledge of relevance to the area of research
- Expressed interest in the proposed project
