hela Sverige The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.
Division
The Childhood Cancer Research Unit consists of several research groups conducting both preclinical, clinical and psychosocial research with the major aim to improve the care of children with cancer and their families.
Our research group has a long standing experience in translational research on the embryonal neural tumours medulloblastoma and neuroblastoma with the aim to find better treatment options for children with these diseases.
Area of responsibilities/description of work
The position is available immediately in the laboratory of Professor Kogner and Johnsen. The successful candidate will work in an established translational research environment within the larger project aiming for the discovery and characterization of novel clinical relevant biomarkers in embryonal neural tumours, particularly neuroblastoma, aiming at translational therapeutic impact. This position is funded from a national network grant for studies on novel neuroblastoma biomarkers of clinical relevance,
www.nnbcr.se.The candidate will primarily focus on the development and characterization of genetically modified animal model systems for the study of origin, molecular mechanisms and novel innovative treatment of neuroblastoma. The candidate is expected to coordinate and support ongoing and planned animal studies including the in vivo testing of new treatment options and monitoring geno- and -phenotypic traits in transgenic animals. Applications are welcome from highly motivated and talented postdocs with a broad experience in translational research including molecular studies, preclinical animal models and basic bioinformatic knowledge.
Recent relevant publications of the Kogner and Johnsen labs include: Baryawno et al Cancer Res 2010, Baryawno et al J Clin Invest 2011, Carlson et al Carcinogenesis 2013, Eriksson et al JNCI 2014, Chen et al Cancer Discov 2014, Schleiermacher et al J Clin Oncol 2014, Pandey et al Cancer Cell 2014, Larsson et al PNAS 2015.
The position is a project employment.

Qualifications
To qualify the applicant must hold a doctoral degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biological engineering, Medicine or similar. Applicants must be able to work independently and have good communication skills in English. Applicants interested in any of the above research areas and/or applicants interested in developing a novel research direction will be considered.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
