The Department of Media and Communication at Mid Sweden University and the CORE research team are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow of communication and leadership to conduct research and teach on issues related to analysis, evaluation and development of leadership and communication.
We seek candidates with doctoral degrees in Communication, an active program of relevant communication research and publication, excellent graduate and undergraduate teaching, and commitment to collegiality and collaboration. We welcome applications from scholars who use multiple methods of communication scholarship, have experience in working with business organizations, and have potential for doing funded research. Candidates should be able to teach courses on research methods, organizational communication, leadership and communication, and related topics.
A two-year full-time appointment starts as soon as possible after April 1, 2011. Applicants will be considered until the position is filled; however, applicants should submit complete applications by March 1, 2011, for full consideration.
The Media and Communication Department at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall offers a broad undergraduate program with 700 undergraduate majors in communication management, journalism, visual communication and graphic design; 20 MA and 10 PhD students are related to the Research Center for Democracy and Communication. The CORE research team conducts research on internal and external organizational communication, and specializes in communication, leadership and organizational change.
Duties include:
• Conduct research and publish in the field of communication and leadership.
• Teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas of candidate?s speciality and based on departmental need.
• Work collegially within the CORE research team and with a faculty representing the broad scope of communication within this department which has concentrations in media and political communication, relational and organizational communication.
• Advise undergraduate majors in Communication Studies and serve on MA thesis committees.
• Assume other duties normally expected of full-time faculty members at a major research institution.
Qualifications:
• Credentials and experience centered in communication studies.
• Specialty in organizational communication and/or communication management.
• Preference will be given to candidates who use multiple methods of communication scholarship and have experience in working with business organizations.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and publication. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate ability to conduct funded research.
• Ph.D. required for for appointment as post-doctoral research fellow.
