We are excited to offer a postdoctoral opportunity in advanced nanomaterials and aerosol technology, through a collaborative project between two of Sweden's leading universities.

About us
This is a collaborative project between Chalmers University of Technology and Lund University. The project will be based at the Division of Quantum Device Physics within the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2), but research will also be conducted at Lund University within the framework of NanoLund.

You will have access to state-of-the-art cleanrooms and advanced characterization facilities (including electron microscopes) at both Chalmers and Lund. You will be part of the aerosol technology group, which works on both understanding and improving the field of spark ablation, as well as developing new types of nanoparticle-based materials and enhancing the understanding of how material properties relate to performance.

About the research project
Within the project, you will have the opportunity to develop your own ideas and influence the specific research focus within the broader research direction. The research direction will be two-fold: exploring the mixing capabilities to create mixed-metal nanoparticles with new functionalities using spark ablation, and creating three-dimensional structures for specific application areas. You will conduct research at two of Sweden's leading academic environments.

The project aims to produce novel types of mixed-metal nanoparticles, particularly magnetic materials, and to use advanced characterization techniques to gain a deeper understanding of how particle properties influence magnetic performance. A key aspect will be identifying promising material combinations, tuning chemical compositions, and exploring how composition affects magnetic behavior. In a further step, the particles will be assembled into larger one-dimensional and three-dimensional structures and integrated with other material systems. Characterization techniques will include electron microscopy, X-ray-based methods, and magnetometry.

Who we are looking for
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree in Physics, Material Science, Aerosol Technology or another relevant field, awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline.

You also:

• Have solid experience with aerosol technology, preferably the spark ablation technique
• Have some experience with advanced material characterization
• Are able to show documented ability to independently, within a larger research project, identify the sub projects and make a solid research plan and carry that out

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

• The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree. Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service.

The following experience will strengthen your application:

• Experience with synchrotron-based characterization, electron microscopy characterization and magnetism
• Experience wth supervision

What you will do
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may also include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

An important part of the position will be to identify possible collaborations between the aerosol technology group at Lund University and researchers at Chalmers University of Technology.
