This postdoctoral position focuses on securing large-scale distributed AI systems against network-based threats. The research will explore network attack surfaces in distributed AI, assess their impact on system reliability and trustworthiness, and develop cross-layer defenses that ensure both scalable efficiency and robust security in next-generation AI infrastructures.

About us
The department of Computer Science and Engineering is strongly international, with approximately 300 employees from over 30 countries. The department is a fully integrated department with Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg as principals. The position is placed in the Division for Computer network and systems and the employment is placed with Chalmers University of Technology.

Our research spans from theoretical computer science to applied systems development. We provide high-quality education at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, offering over 120 courses each year. We also have extensive national and international collaborations with academia, industry, and society.

About the research project
The Postdoc position will be placed in the Secura Lab led by Assistant Professor Muoi Tran. Dedicated to advancing the field of Network Security, Secura Lab focuses on innovative solutions to protect modern digital infrastructure from emerging network threats. This postdoctoral project aims to secure the network infrastructure of distributed AI. The focus is on designing resilient architectures and protocols that combine network-level protections with AI- and system-level adaptivity. The postdoc will systematically model adversarial capabilities, develop proactive mitigation strategies, and evaluate their effectiveness in large-scale experimental settings.


Who we are looking for
The following requirements are mandatory:

• To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree in computer science awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline*.
• You will need strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Strong experience with distributed AI, demonstrated via a strong publication record
• Ability to develop systems using programming languages like Python or C/C++
• Familiarity with networking and security protocols is a plus

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

• The date on your doctoral degree certificate is considered the official date of completion. Exceptions to the three-year eligibility limit may be made for documented circumstances such as parental leave, sick leave, or military service.

What you will do
The Postdoc will lead both the conceptual development in close collaboration with the project's Principal Investigator, and the practical implementation of this research with the Secura Lab. The role also offers ample opportunities to mentor PhD students, supervise MSc projects, and engage with a vibrant network of national and international collaborators.

• Conduct independent research in collaboration with the research group
• Publish and present your work at conferences and in journals
• Supervise master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent
• Possibility to engage in teaching at undergraduate/master's level
• Collaborate within academia and with society at large

The position is meritorious for future roles in academia, industry, or the public sector.

Contract terms
The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.

The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
