Position description
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree.The position is part of efforts to underpin the future supply of skills. The position is a temporary employment of maximum 3 years.
The research will be conducted within the Vinnova funded project Trust_Gen_Z and EU-funded project TRUSTY. The postdoc will carry out his/her research in the area of AI, Generative AI, XAI in industrial applications and ATM domain at 100%.
Trust_Gen_Z will facilitate the inspection, monitoring, optimization and maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery. Currently, reliable AI methods that generate predictions while offering prescriptive decisions are absent. Trust_Gen_Z will address these challenges and support prescriptive analysis through generative AI to advance digitization in the automotive and telecom industries. The project TRUSTY aims to provide adaptation in the level of transparency to enhance the trustworthiness of AI-powered decisions in the context of remote digital towers (RDTs).
The position focuses on generative AI, explainable AI (XAI), machine learning, computer vision, image processing and signal processing. It also requires developing self-explainable and self-learning' systems for critical decision-making and transparent generative AI models. The work requires theoretical studies on the state of the art, together with algorithm development and testing. As a PostDoc, you are expected to develop independent ideas and to communicate research results in oral and written form. The employment includes national and international collaboration and co-production internationally.
Qualifications requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in omputer Science, with a focus on Deep Learning. The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.
You have knowledge and experience in Generative AI, Deep Learning, machine learning, and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). You also have knowledge and experience in the development of interpretable machine-learning models with human-understandable features. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Assesment criteria
• Both theoretical and practical knowledge of deep learning and generative models, e.g. diffusion model, autoregressive model, etc.
• Experience in computer vision, ML and XAI project development in application domains.
• Extensive programming experience, e.g., Python, TensorFlow and PyTorch tools and packages.
• Knowledge of LIME, SHAP, DALEX, and user evaluation.
• Experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate students.
• Experience in course and program syllabus development.
