Job description:
To support the delivery of high-quality Personal, Social & Physical Education for primary school students, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports students' physical, social, and emotional development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Teaching Assistant is responsible for the following:
Provide instructional, organisational, and logistical support to the Physical Education teachers during lessons.
Assist with lesson preparation, including setting up, maintaining, and storing gym and sports equipment.
Support students individually or in small groups, adapting activities to meet a wide range of abilities and needs.
Lead and take over Physical Education classes independently for students from Early Years through Grade 5 when the teacher is absent.
Supervise students during PE lessons, transitions, and changing times to ensure safety and appropriate behaviour.
Support classroom management and contribute to a positive, structured learning environment.
Assist with assessments, observations, and feedback under the guidance of the PE teacher.
Substitute for the PE teacher when required.
Be responsible for After School Care programmes 1-2 times a week, up to 17:30.
Participate in out-of-class duties, such as supervision duties as assigned.
Actively contribute to the operational needs of the school and support school-wide activities and events.
Be an active and collaborative member of the Primary School Faculty, contributing positively to team planning and communication.
Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in Sports, Physical Education, or a related field, and/or previous experience supporting sports or PE instruction in a school setting.
Experience working with children across a broad age range.
Knowledge of Early Childhood Education and/or international curricula (e.g. IB, IPC or equivalent) is desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Confidence in leading groups of students and managing classes independently when required.
Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment and under time pressure.
Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A positive, professional, and approachable manner.

Contract: Temporary Cover Contract
Time allocation: 100%
Starting: March 3rd, 2026
Ending: June 12th, 2026
Salary: Fixed salary
