The objective of this project is to create new strategic knowledge on how to develop a cost-effective and resource- and climate-efficient built environment in urban areas that is primarily based on renewable resources. The research education of the candidate is to analyze the life cycle monetary cost, primary energy use and greenhouse gas balances of buildings located in Sweden considering the various development strategies of the urban built environment and varied size of district heating systems.
At least 80 percent of the time is devoted to graduate education according to an individual study plan. At most 20 percent of the time can be spent on teaching and administration at the university. The position is expected to lead to a PhD exam.
Qualifications
Basic eligibility
• Completed a masters-degree level civil engineering/environmental engineering/energy system studies program
• Or passed equivalent courses corresponding to 240 points (4 years) of which at least 60 points (1 year) are at advanced level
• Or in some other way acquired the corresponding level of knowledge Special eligibility
• Good knowledge of English both speaking and writingTransitional rule for basic eligibility
Applicant that before 1 July2007 satisfied requirements for basic eligibility to graduate studies will be considered eligible to apply for at graduate position. This holds up to the year 2015.
Other qualifications sought
In the weighing of the bases of assessment, special emphasis is put on the applicant's ability to benefit from post-graduate studies. Applicants are encouraged to attach a relevant paper or thesis, witnessed records of grades and attests, references and other relevant documents.
The selection of a candidate among those fulfilling the basic requirements will be done based on the candidates' ability to assimilate the PhD-studies, the ability to communicate in English, the quality of any previous scientific work and CV.
