GEOPHYSICIST GRADE I

MMT collect, process and visualize the conditions of the seabed; offering assured surveys in bathymetric, geophysical and geotechnical services for the oil & gas, hydrography and renewable energy sectors. MMTs head office is placed in Gothenburg, Sweden and a local office is located in Banbury, UK.

We are now searching for a Geophysicist Grade I (IMCA standard) to work offshore in two or four week shifts. The position is fulltime and open immediately.

PURPOSE

The Geophysicist Grade I (IMCA standard) works with processing, interpretation and reporting of mainly geophysical data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Geophysicist Grade I work independently with quality control, processing and interpretation of data from side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, gradiometer, single and multiple magnetometer.
Geotechnical sampling.
Summaries the results from survey data in text reports.
If needed, assist the Senior Geophysicist/Project Report Coordinator with project preparation and presentation and coordinate data processing within the project.
Ensure that processing logs are appropriately used.
Ensure that the work is performed according to MMT HSEQ procedures.
Instruct less experienced personnel.

REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelors degree in Geology or Geophysics is required and a Masters degree in Geology or Geophysics is preferred.
Fulfils the IMCA criteria for Geophysicist Grade I position.
Wide experience of geophysical data processing, interpretation, reporting. Workstation skills in IHS Kingdom software and Chesapeake SonarWiz are required, and skills in Geosoft Oasis montaj is preferred.
Working knowledge of softwares ESRI Arc GIS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Packages.

Other requirements are:
Fluent in English both speaking and writing.
Ability to deliver quality work in fast-paced environment.
Structured with organisational and communication skills
