We are now looking for a new team member taking on the responsibility of our News desk function as well as our Internal Magazine Editor.
Position Description
Role Mission
To manage (short term) and develop (long term) the news flow (content, process, channels, tools and techniques) to reach our internal and external audiences. To manage and improve the internal magazine as one of our key internal channels.
Job description
Manage a good news flow securing representative and consistent coverage of Volvo ITs prioritized areas (e.g. brand, strategic focus areas, large projects, and executive management team agenda items) as well as all geographies, functions.
Create, develop and manage the internal news content platform and coordinate centralized production process for news items and information contents.
Enable cross fertilization of news between our main channels to reach our internal and external audiences.
In order to fulfil the above objectives, the News desk coordinator will facilitate a core team of communicators representing both the Internal communications and the Marketing & PR teams.
Manage external resources (copywriter, translation bureau) when used as support.
Write news stories and publish editorial guidelines enabling our employees to write up their own story.
Monitor performance of information channels (develop, implement measurement techniques to quantify and qualify effectiveness of efforts).
Provide editorial guidance and assistance to the Internal Communications function in this domain (on newsletters, social media etc.).
Around 40% of the job will be dedicated to managing the internal magazine as one of our key internal channels:
Develop editorial guidelines
Set up and coordinate an editorial committee
Coordinate the production of the magazine and manage agencies (or sub-contractors) to deliver outcomes.
Track budget on this scope.
Measure readership.
Investigate possible evolutions of the magazine on content and format.
Network with external parties to benchmark practices, look outside for inspiration.
Qualifications:
Education
University degree in Communication, or equivalent.
Preferred experience, knowledge and skills
Up to 6-8 years of experience in the field
Holistic view, clear vision, global mindset, strategic approach
Ability to source stories, tell stories and find an attractive pitch
Ability to influence others and to make things happen
Strong capacity in building networks ; enjoys working with others
Excellent written skills
Strong oral communication skills
Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
Background from similar role in larger multinational corporation/s
