hela Sverige As a narrative director, you will work with the sr. director to help ensure high quality story development, narrative structure, game writing and cinematics in your projects and at King.
You will work in close collaboration with key discipline leads across your teams, including game designers, artists, engineers, producers and audio leads to develop and ensure contextual narrative elements that strengthen emotional engagement, brand loyalty and player retention, and ensure tonal coherence and consistency for the player experience and the IP.
As a narrative director, you will be coaching individuals and teams on how to structure creative story development meetings, writers' rooms, and proper feedback loops to ensure the best products possible as well as a culture of respectful critique. You may be asked to share and coach on topics of narrative design to other team leads and experts, providing insight and narrative expertise to sister discipline leads such as production, art, game design and audio.
Skills to create thrills
You will offer input and advice to other writers and narrative designers at King, working with the sr. director to establish best practices, define story development processes and improve the craft of narrative design across King. You are:
• A story development leader: you will drive the fictional fabric of a product, either as an embedded team resource or a temporary contributing resource.
• A collaborative teammate: working with team leads you will contribute scripts and specs to support story development, character dialogue, in-game text, world definition, copywriting, copyediting, tutorials and cinematics.
• A sophisticated storyteller: you will help teams to develop worlds, rule sets, lore and characters providing guidance on features and asset development specific to narration.
• A versatile writer: you have a lyrical ear for dialogue and wordsmithing and are able to deliver relevant written narrative content across varied genres and IPs, able to work within existing IP guidelines while adding fresh ideas.
- A discipline leader in narrative design: you are passionate about the art of seamlessly integrating narrative and gameplay and you showcase a keen understanding of the role of player agency, branching narrative and meaningful choice in interactive story development.
• A pragmatic editor: you are able to create story content suitable for the mobile platform, and coach other writers and teams on how to deliver the strongest narrative "punch" in the fewest words possible.
Relevant Skills
• Proven ability to build worlds that players love and believe in.
• Experience writing brand bibles, detailed scripts, and game glossaries
• Ability to switch between different writing styles and tones
• Ability to work independently or as part of the design team
• Keen interest in sharing learnings across the entire team.
