www.fingerprints.com Fingerprints is seeking a Module Design Engineer to join the R&D team in developing future fingerprint systems for smartcards and other portable devices. Fingerprints is a leader in the development of capacitive fingerprint sensors and designs the whole system, from advanced custom silicon devices and microelectronic packages, module assemblies to algorithms and software for fingerprint recognition and applications on the target devices.
The Role
A Module Design Engineer is responsible for the modules and demo platforms of our sensors. The module design team develops these modules in close relation with production partners in Europe and Asia. This work requires close collaboration with different internal design teams, subcontractors and partners in an international environment, to secure the best possible fingerprint sensor module.
Fingerprint sensors have achieved a great penetration in the smartphone arena in the last few years. Now there are new emerging fields, among these smartcards. In smartcard production, there are many new challenges that needs to be addressed to achieve good performance and high production yield. Hence, we need to strengthen the module design team to deal with the extended portfolio.
Moreover, the module design team provide technical support related to HW production; material selection, mechanical design, production process and module performance to customers throughout the world.
The work location is in Malmö.
International travel to Fingerprints suppliers, partners, and customers may be frequent.
Your Background
This role requires a Master of Science in Engineering, such as in electronics, physics, chemistry, mechanics or the equivalent, as well as occupational experience of similar fields. You need to be fluent in spoken and written English and not opposed to traveling abroad.
Below qualifications will be of interest for us:
• Good understanding of common manufacturing methods within Semiconductor industry
• Prior experience with manufacturing partners
• Basic understanding of smart card production
• Relevant work experience in similar technical fields, e.g. miniaturized modules
• Good skill in communication both internally and with external companies
Preference will be given to those with experience in at least some of the following areas:
• Product development with portable devices
• Microelectronics packaging development
• Basic understanding of general material properties
• Board level design and supplier coordination
• Microelectronic manufacturing or quality assurance work
You also have essential qualities such as being ambitious, motivated and flexible. You need to be comfortable working in a growing company, where you will be expected to assume considerable personal responsibility for your own activities and the company's success. This also requires you to be a team player who contributes to an open and positive atmosphere in the workplace.
