Reports To: CEO and working closely with the management team.

Location: Sweden and Norway

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide vision, leadership and direction to the project through the evaluation and study phases and subsequently as the project progresses to the development phase. The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery KPIs.

They will also be responsible for hiring, training and leading the owner's team, managing contractors and ensuring the project is executed to the highest standards.

Accountabilities:
• Ensure safety systems are in place and that zero harm is achieved
• Ensure the project is executed to the highest of ethical, environmental and social standards
• Prepare and deliver the Project Execution Plan
• Based on the approved budget for the Project, authorise commitments and expenditures within authority levels, and control costs within budget limits
• Hire and manage the project delivery team
• Manage the engineering contractors and delivery of major contracts
• Management of the Scope of Works to be completed
• Advise Senior Management and Board on significant trends and changes, that may impact the economic outcome of the project
• Establish operational capacity, resources expertise and systems necessary to operate the completed facilities during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up with the involvement of operations personnel and the contractors

Health, Safety, Environmental and Community Responsibilities:
• Comply and enforce the policies, rules, standards, procedures and manuals relating to health, safety, environment and community
• Comply and enforce procedures aimed at the safe execution of tasks and the prevention of incidents, accidents or occupational diseases
• Present the recommendations considered to avoid the occurrence of incidents, accidents at work and occupational diseases
• Attend and participate actively in the processes of training in Health and Safety at Work

Key Relationships:
Internal
• Board and Senior Management
• Project delivery team (would be developing this team)
• Procurement team (Again would be developing this team)

External
• Resources and Feasibility consultants
• Environmental consultants, permitting authorities, local and national government
• EPCM contractors
• Engineer and installation contractors
• Major equipment suppliers

The Person
The successful candidate will have a collaborative approach and the ability to mentor and train personnel. They will be innovative and flexible with the ability to challenge and improve processes. The Study / Project Manager will be execution-focused with the ability to create processes and build structure for all phases of the project development. They will be internationally credible, have a strong construction management background, and experience in working with contractors and regulatory authorities.


Qualifications:
• Relevant Engineering bachelors or master's degree highly desirable, preferably in a core discipline; e.g. metallurgy, mining engineering, construction engineering etc.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) qualifications or equivalent

Experience:
• 15+ years of working experience, including in mid sized companies
• Strong experience within the capital intensive industrial sectors, including managing the construction of a large-scale project(s)
• Experience in developing projects with a focus on long term environmental and social impacts.
• Gold experience would be preferable, however other mining commodities and general large scale project management will be considered
• Working experiences in the Nordics would be highly advantageous
• Demonstrable experience in overseeing large-scale projects, ideally above US$400-500 million CAPEX
• Experience in project strategy and development including feasibility study phase
• Experience in overseeing permitting processes for large capital projects
• Experience in managing and overseeing a lead EPCM contractor
• Directing and guiding teams and contractors; providing technical knowledge and leadership, whilst encouraging a productive and positive working environment
• Establishing best practice working practices, procedures and goals
• Monitoring KPIs, completing audits and reviews, and implementing corrective strategies
• Overseeing all health and safety, environmental and social policies, and regulatory compliance relating to the project.
• Experience managing the budget and cost control of a large-scale project
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate in a simple and concise manner to the Board of Directors and Senior Management

• Strong written and oral communications skills at all levels
• Ability to challenge concepts and ideas; strong problem-solver
• Finnish or other Scandinavian language skills are not essential but would be a bonus
