• Do a in depth mapping on where we are on medical innovation in MSF in the field, HQ and other.
• Identify where do our medical innovation challenges lie for our operations in the field
• Identify, coordinate medical Innovation cases and Case Managers
o Assess the different cases and challenges that are presented to us (as well as actively look for them)
o Facilitate and drive the start-up of cases (mediate and communicate between the different actors; Case Owners, universities, companies, Case Managers, decision makers etc.)
o Coach and support cases and Case Managers through the process as well as solve problems that are on higher levels (above Case Managers)
o Negotiate salary levels and general conditions of the case manager/specialists that works for the MSF Sweden
• Develop a medical innovation strategy together with the team and advise and work together with the other innovation initiatives in MSF and other NGO
• Constantly scan, analyse and map possible solutions and approaches that can benefit MSF
• Define key cases that can have a huge impact on the organization
• Build a network of collaboration with possible Universities that can contribute to MSF
• Coach, empower and provide training in the areas of responsibility in order to both ensure Case Managers, specialists and other relevant team member's creative growth and to optimise results and performances in areas of expertise and create conditions for them to perform their duties (from administrative and practical aspects to create a good team spirit and sound working environment).
• Contribute to the design and general content of material and information that will formalise the MSF Sweden IU approach, methods and processes (external and internal communication as well as guidelines, best practises, training and other material for Case Managers and others)
Our requirements for the position:
• Strong commitment to MSF humanitarian principles and values
• Medical profile, biomedical or health related professional
• English writing and speaking
• Experience in Innovation processes and strategy
• Networking, partnership and negotiation skills
• Minimum of 2 years' experience of humanitarian work, preferably within MSF
• Fieldwork experience
• Minimum of 3 years' experience of project management and leading projects
• Knowledge and skills in fields like innovation strategy, innovation management, design thinking, user experience design.
• Ability to use personal initiative, creativity and root cause identification skills to solve problems.
• Good capacity to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
• Is flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
• Expresses advanced level of written and spoken English.
• Flexible to work in constant changing environments.
• Problem solving, creative and curious to listen and learn in order to get better.
Valuable:
• Experience from working with MSF is an advantage
• Medical background is an asset in terms of representation on the medical innovation cases
• French and Swedish an advantage
The MSF Sweden Innovation Unit is under the umbrella of Läkare Utan Gränser (or MSF Sweden) which is one of the 24 associations in the global MSF movement. The MSF Sweden Innovation Unit takes on challenges and problems that MSF globally faces in its Operations in the field and beyond. This is done by using a systematic approach towards innovation applying need driven, design methodologies that serves as a vehicle for continuous improvement.
