The position is located in Ljungby, Sweden and you will report to the Engineering Manager, Mechanical, CB New Product Development.
Main tasks and responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer in our Counter Balanced Division, your role will be multi-faceted and integral to our operations. You will spearhead development initiatives with partners, consultants, and suppliers, creating systems and components that meet and exceed customer needs, legal mandates, and our stringent internal criteria. Working closely with the Principal Systems Engineer, you will define specifications for components and systems in cooperation with Chief Engineers and the responsible R&D Manager.
Your mandate will also encompass coordinating system and component design across products, addressing service, production, and supplier issues, and ensuring your activities align with specified requirements and time schedules. You will also have the chance to contribute to the cooperation between R&D and Sourcing and Operation, regularly report to the responsible R&D Manager and PSE regarding outcome and possible deviations, and visit customers and suppliers to better understand their needs and perspectives.
What you'll need to succeed
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer who brings a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field or possesses similar knowledge through hands-on experience. Ideal candidates should have a solid technical understanding of non-road mobile machinery or similar rubber tire vehicles and substantial experience with product development activities within mechanical engineering. Prior experience with tasks or products similar to ours at Kalmar is highly desirable.
Key competencies for this role include a business- and market-oriented mindset, a customer-focused approach, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in the engineering tools used by Kalmar. You should also bring an analytical and structural ability, be driven and results-oriented, and be able to solve problems with a positive attitude. Proficiency in English, both speaking and writing, is mandatory.
