The British Embassy in Sweden is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Assistant to carry out proactive and reactive maintenance support throughout the Embassy Estate.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
General and specialist repairs / Maintenance and inspections (60%):
• Includes (but not limited to) painting, overseeing district heating and heating systems, plant rooms, ventilation, water and air conditioning units;
• Liaison with external contractors regarding specialist maintenance;
• Snow clearance of Embassy compound during the Winter time;
• Residential accommodation support (furniture assembly, installation of blinds, curtains, etc.);
• Manage inventory of white goods throughout the Estate;
• Routine Health & Safety checks across a range of areas (including water temperature, ladder safety, etc.).
Assist with maintenance, forward planning and supervision of small maintenance projects (15%):
Office & Events set up (20%):
• Support with events at the Embassy and Residence;
• Preparation of conference room facilities and Office set up (furniture and cable management).
Other (5%):
• Oracle based procurement system (requisitioning and receiving - following the procurement policy);
• Back-up driving.
Essential qualifications and experience
• 5 Years documented experience in similar tasks (Janitor, Handyman or Facilities Management);
• Extensive knowledge of ventilation, heating, plumbing and electrical systems;
• Attention to detail with good follow-through and Customer Service approach;
• Self-starter and proactive attitude;
• Ability to work as positive and flexible team player;
• IT Skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Office);
• Swedish Driving Licence;
• English language (Intermediate) and Swedish (Fluent/Native);
Desirable qualifications and experience
• Practical painting and building experience;
• Knowledge of TAC heating monitoring system.

Please note that being a Locally Employed staff by the British Embassy will not give access to be registered with the Swedish population registry.
According to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs the locally employed staff should be either Swedish citizens or permanent residents, i.e. registered with the population registry before starting the employment.
