The position

The studio is currently hiring a Localization Coordinator to work on our open world sandbox multiplayer games. As a Localization Coordinator at Avalanche Studios Group you will cooperate closely with the Narrative and Game Designers, Production, QA, external Localization teams and other major stakeholders on the projects. This position is a parental leave substitution until the end of 2022 with possibilities of becoming permanent.

You will be responsible for coordinating the localization on your projects, ultimately ensuring that the localized versions of the games provide the same quality of experience to all players, regardless of the language they play in. This includes internationalization, multilingual text database handling, coaching on best practices and evangelizing game localization, supporting your internal teams as well as our external translators and LQA teams, both linguistically and technically.

We are looking for a colleague who enjoys authentic communication and clear structure, and who is driven, quality-oriented and able to manage and track their workload. A self-organized person who likes to learn new things, keep processes up to date, and who enjoys collaborating with the project teams and fellow Localization Coordinators.

Responsibilities

• Support and coach Dev team and Production in text and localization related matters.
• Set up and schedule game localization with external language service providers.
• Create and provide glossaries and reference materials adapted to our external multilingual language teams.
• Support translation and LQA teams before and during the localization phase, and escalate issues as necessary.
• Handle and triage questions between translators, LQA testers and Dev team.
• Manage and upkeep source and target language texts in our string database.
• Be a champion for internationalization, culturalization and localization to ensure any cultural and technical localization issues are caught early.
• Actively participate in the continuous work on refining existing pipelines and processes for localization tools, workflows and middleware.

Desirable qualifications

• Experience of project management and localization, either in games or comparable media production.
• Experience with CAT tools, text management software and/or LQA experience.
• Experience in translation, localization and/or linguistics.Experience in copytext editing, proofreading and/or subtitling.
• Experience in VO localization coordination, casting, recording and post-editing.
• Proficiency in at least one language other than English.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Advanced user of MS Office and Google Suite.
