description
The Structures
area within the Saab Aerostructures Engineering Department is responsible for
the structural integrity of the Gripen fighter, as well as the Saab
Aerostructures work packages for external customers such as Airbus and Boeing.
The area is also responsible for structural testing as well as development and
support of stress methods and data within the Saab Aeronautics field.
Under the line
manager the stress work within each project team is led by a Lead Stress
Engineer. The Lead Stress Engineer has the operational responsibility for the
structural integrity of the product, and approve the design from a stress point
of view.
We currently need
Lead Stress Engineers for some of our products, both Saab internal products as
well as work packages for external customers.
The job includes:
•                     Day-to-day
management of a team of stress engineers
•                     Technical stress
responsibility for a specific product (delegated technical authority)
•                     Coordination of
stress issues at Saab and at Saab partner sites
•                     Coordination and
communication with the customer (can be Saab Aerosystems or an external
customer) regarding stress issues
•                     Responsible for
ensuring that adequate and approved methods and data are used.
•                     Review
of stress analyses performed witin the team.
Qualifications
For this position we require
engineers with 10+ years of experience from stress analysis of aircraft
structures, and a strong will to continue to develop their skills within the
area. The ideal applicant has experience from both static strength, fatigue and
damage tolerance analyses of metallic as well as composite structures.
We are looking for engineers that are excellent team players and that are easy
to work with. Experience from leading a group of 5-10 engineers is a merit, as
is experience of technical communication with customers, partners and
suppliers.
The place of work
is mainly Linköping, but during conceptual phases we frequently have project
teams on-site at our customers (mainly Airbus and Boeing), and therefore an
interest for spending periods abroad is also valuable.
Master of Science
in Mechanical Engineering is the typical education level at the Saab
Aerostructures stress office.
