ABOUT THE ROLE
RFSL's international work is deeply rooted in extensive experience advancing LGBTQI rights nationally. Our International Unit has a broad capacity strengthening program and is engaged in advocacy work within the UN. Furthermore, we support partner organisations in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa in their work on national and regional levels. In these partnerships, RFSL contributes to capacity strengthening, experience exchange, accessing international platforms, and acts as an intermediary financial partner.
As International Program Manager you will cooperate with partner organisations in different regions, with emphasis on Asia and Africa. Your main responsibility will be to handle and administer grants to partners and organise capacity strengthening activities within two of RFSL's international programs.
The first program is Regional Movements Advancing LGBTQI Rights, funded by ForumCiv since 2018. This program includes support to projects implemented by mainly regional partner organisations based in Africa and Asia.
The second program is Mobilising for Change, funded by Sida, that together with partner organisations engages with international advocacy fora, including UN human rights platforms and the development framework, as well as capacity strengthening and regranting of small grants for activists globally.
As International Program Manager you will be part of the International Unit, based in Stockholm, and report to the Head of Program.
The role includes the following tasks:
Assessing partner applications and narrative and financial reports, entering into agreements with partners, ensuring payments and contractual compliance of partner organisations.
Monitoring developments in relation to grant agreements and partner organisations and their work.
Being a resource for the partner organisations in terms of implementation and follow-up.
Contribute to the internal and external reporting, including reporting of results, to ForumCiv, Sida and other back-donors.
Contribute to development of new programs and to new applications to donors that includes re-granting to partners.
Plan for and organise capacity strengthening activities, including trainings and workshops for LGBTQI-activists.
Take part in overall processes and meetings of the International Unit and the overall organisation.

ABOUT YOU
As a person, you consider all aspects of work processes and products to ensure quality, precision and completion. You are happy to work with others towards common goals, and understand what responsibility and what activities are required to create good cooperation at work.
You have the ability to understand and analyse different positions objectively, and sort out disagreements between internal and external parties in order to find win-win solutions.
Furthermore, you work effectively in situations that require a high level of structure and organisation and can easily follow established work processes. If you also have the ability to communicate in a clear way, both in groups and individually, we definitely believe that you will be successful in this position.
We assume that you share RFSL's values of anti-racism, feminism, accessibility, and intersectionality.
To be suitable for this position you also have:
A strong commitment to the advancement of LGBTQI rights, justice, and equality.
At least 3 years of relevant working experience in a national or international non-governmental organisation, or development co-operation/grant management through other actors.
Proven track record of grant, project and program management.
Experience of working with LGBTQI rights and movements, including small, grassroots organisations, is desirable.
Experience of working with civil society in Asia and/or Africa is desirable.
Experience in planning for and organising capacity strengthening activities, including trainings and workshops for activists.
Solid IT skills, including good knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft 365 (Excel, PPT, Word).
Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required and Swedish language skills are desirable.
A Bachelor's degree in gender studies, international relations, political science and sociology or other social sciences or equivalent qualifications obtained through relevant work experience.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
A Swedish work permit and possibility to work from Sweden.

ABOUT THE EMPLOYMENT
The function is a full-time, open-ended position with a 6-month probation period.
Furthermore, RFSL are part of a collective agreement and offer a number of valuable work benefits. The organisation is working in a hybrid mode. The position should be based in Sweden, while extensive travelling to the region/s and elsewhere will also be expected. RFSL can provide support with work permit applications, if relevant.
RFSL strives to be an inclusive workplace for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and sex characteristics, religion, race, ethnicity, country of origin, disability status, age and other grounds of discrimination.
Please apply as soon as possible, as we recruit on an ongoing basis, but no later than January 11 2024.
