To strengthen our competence in the field of heat treatment, we are looking for a
Heat Treatment Engineer
(Utvecklingsingenjör - värmebehandling)

SKF Group MDC (Manufacturing Development Centre) has a responsibility for developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for ultimate use in SKF factories distributed worldwide. Accordingly MDC
endeavours to keep informed on all new technology developments and how they can be applied to improve production efficiency, quality and performance of SKF products.
We are looking for a person who has a good in depth knowledge on heat treatment with some experience on how to heat treat steel components with high volume production equipment. The person should be
highly motivated to work with heat treatment both in an R&D and a factory environment. The successful candidate is expected to be an effective communicator in selling ideas and able to handle tasks
both independently or by giving constructive support in project teams.
Key Tasks
• To initiate, define and perform activities and lead projects dealing with the R&D, manufacture and installation of processes and equipment in the SKF Group.
• To advise on heat treatment issues in SKF.
• To keep aware of external developments and translate new ideas into opportunities for the SKF Group.
• To work with universities, research institutes and suppliers to develop new competence for the SKF Group.
Requirements
• University or equivalent technical education preferably in metallurgy or material science.
• Good knowledge of processes and related equipment that can be typically used for heat treatment of steel components including furnace atmospheres and process control techniques.
• Experience in the industrial application of heat treatment processes combined with a good understanding on how such processes can influence the properties of steels.
• Experience in metallographic analysis of heat treated steels is beneficial.
• Experience from manufacturing is an advantage.
• A self-motivated, proactive team worker with good communication skills.
• Experience in leading projects.
• Team leading and facilitation skills.
• Good ability to speak and write in English; a second or third foreign language is an advantage (e.g. German, French, Spanish).
• Willingness to travel and to work abroad on short assignments.
