Disruptive Materials is an expanding spin-off from Uppsala University commercializing Upsalite, a mesoporous magnesium carbonate, with unique adsorption characteristics and pore structure. The role
The R&D works in close collaboration with sales and product management as well as with external partners and customers driving new innovations and product development of applications of Upsalite in sports and cosmetic products. The Head of R&D is a key role for the company and will be a member of Disruptive Materials' management team and will be is responsible for:
• Head all Research & Development work, primarily related to Upsalite and its applications in cosmetics and sports products
• Supervise staffing and project management for a team of 10 colleagues
• Support Daily operations related to product management and improvement
• Work cross-functionally (sales/product management) with the operational development of products and product concepts
• Represent R&D as a member of the Senior Management Team
• Drive cross-functional team for continuous improvement regarding product & quality
Your profile
You have a sound scientific background with PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Engineering or similar field along with at least 10 years' experience from working in a product development organization. You have at least five years in leading positions as R&D manager or project leader, preferably from the cosmetics or similar consumer goods industry. You need to have an understanding of go-to-market processes related to product development and experience of R&D for formulations or prototypes within a specific product segment, preferably cosmetics or similar fields.
You are used to strategic discussions and to present your opinion. You are analytic and structured and have strong organizational and communicational skills and a market-oriented mindset based on sound scientific knowledge. You have documented leadership skills and have experience of working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, QA and supply chain. You have a hands-on prestigeless approach and are helpful and unpretentious.
