About IN/LABIN/LAB is a joint venture between Schibsted Media and the Tinius Trust, dedicated to navigating possible futures for news media. We work together with diverse groups of people to reimagine how journalism can better connect with a broad spectrum of users in the future. We focus primarily on young audiences, news outsiders, and co-creation, and partner with youth centers, tech hubs, and community influencers to create experimental prototypes and foster new ways of delivering the service of news.

https://www.inlabnews.com/The RoleWe are looking for a dynamic and visionary leader for a one-year assignment as Head of IN/LAB. As Head of IN/LAB, you will work at the intersection of technology, democracy and media. You will lead a small, skilled team in navigating news futures through co-creative programs and speculative prototyping, all with a mission that is evermore important: ensuring that independent journalism serves a broad spectrum of people today and in the future. You'll drive partnerships, facilitate community engagement, and advocate for inclusive innovation both within Schibsted and externally.
The location for the role is Stockholm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of two in developing co-creation programs and experimental projects that connect with diverse audiences.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Schibsted's internal teams, external partners, and community organisations to foster innovation in news delivery.
- Advocate for inclusive innovation practices and the need to engages in futures thinking within Schibsted and in the wider media ecosystem.
As Head of IN/LAB, you will report to the Head of Schibsted Sweden and work closely with other departments, such as technology and content development, to ensure innovative practices are integrated into the company's wider media ecosystem.
About YouTo succeed in this role, you are an innovative and inclusive leader, passionate about the media's role in democratic societies today and in the future. You bring leadership experience and are skilled in developing forward-thinking strategies and/or projects in futures-oriented environments working with emerging technology.
Your Qualifications
- Proven track record in futures thinking, innovation, or strategic leadership.
- Experience managing small, high-impact teams.
- Deep understanding of diversity, inclusion, and the critical role of trusted independent media in society
- Strong project management skills, with an ability to drive projects from idea to execution in agile environments.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- Documented interest in emerging technologies.
Bonus Qualifications
- Networks within the media industry or related sectors are highly valued.
