Freespee was founded in 2009 by software engineers Carl Holmquist and Tobias Lindgren in Uppsala, Sweden where its development teams are based. Job Description
We are looking for a talented Head of Engineering to join our team in Uppsala. This role reports into the CTO and will support our engineers to deliver our product roadmap, drive continuous value for our customers, sustain high growth and continue to innovate rapidly and with agility to develop our proprietary platform.
The Head of Engineering will be responsible for the day to day delivery of our product roadmap and its features.
The Head of Engineering will provide senior representation of engineering in technology decisions, ensuring the engineering competencies stay close to the delivery issues of the day.
We are looking for a candidate that is commercially minded and customer centric, with strong technical skills and a deep understanding of processes necessary to build and scale an engineering team quickly.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the smooth running of the Engineering department.
• Manage and develop Chapter Leads through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and management support.
• Work closely with Engineering management to develop team structures and recruitment plans to ensure that the team is built to handle rapid growth.
• Work closely with Product Management in defining product specifications, and planning and executing the product roadmap.
• Identify and propose strategies for resolving technical debt.
• Recruit, onboard and retain talented software engineers.
• Keep the team up to date on important engineering and business decisions.
• Influence good architectural decisions, balanced by the reality of our business strategy.
• Be a strong advocate for software quality.
• Ensure the developers are motivated, delivering high-quality products, on time and to plan.
• Ensure the roadmap is delivered with a high level of quality.
• Ensure all functionality is tested end2end and that the code delivered is stable.
• Ensure our platform is effectively documented and meets the standards of our industry in terms of compliance and operational standards.
• Be the guardian of quality and code stability
REQUIREMENTS
• 3+ years experience of managing technical teams.
• A strong technical background and preferably experience in understanding the SaaS eco-system.
• Knowledge of a variety of programming languages.
• Experience of working in high growth fast paced technology environments.
• Demonstrable experience in overseeing cross-functional projects.
• An analytic background with the ability to problem solve at a strategic level.
• The experience and skills to scale teams and drive success.
• Excellent communication skills with experience working with all levels of business.
