As the Head of Base Software Development, a newly formed department, you will work in a challenging and inspiring part of the organization set out to develop the electrical system in the car, in close cooperation with the departments for system integration & release.

You will be spearheading the evolution towards our new centralized computer architecture enabling flexibility in software content to ensure our cars will be updated with fresh customer functionality over the car's lifetime.
Your mission will be to bring this new organization together and to gather a strong team. You will establish joint ways of working and a culture which enables the solution's frequent delivery of high quality products. You will work in close collaboration with other units in the software and electronics area across Volvo Cars, as you are in the center of the vehicle architecture and systemization. We expect you to have extensive experience in leading large development organizations in the area of software and electronics, experience in systematically implementing change and software centric processes including continuous development as well as continuous integration and quality assurance.
Base Software Development - This is what we do
Our mission is to develop the next generation of centralized computer platform with the corresponding operating system. This will be the innovation platform for future software applications as well as developing body and comfort function electronics and software applications. The unit is also responsible for some common system functions and infrastructure ranging from power and energy to base tech, as well as competence centers that span across the entire vehicle software and electronics. R&D consists of 10 product streams, all with their own product responsibility and with the target to create a complete car together. Base Software Development is one of those product streams as one part of the unit Vehicle Software & Electronics.
