Hamrin International Professor in Business Administration or Economics (with a special focus on Media Management and Transformation)
Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) serves regional and global needs by educating entrepreneurial leaders and business creators. JIBS shall be recognized as providing innovative leadership in research, education and service to society within entrepreneurship and business renewal. JIBS has about 200 employees and 2200 students, and it is one of four schools within Jönköping University.
JIBS seeks a professor in Business Administration or Economics, supporting the continued development of the Media Management and Transformation Centre (MMTC). The position is funded by a donation from Jenz and Carl-Oscar Hamrin foundation.
The Media Management and Transformation Centre is the worlds premier centre for media business studies engaging some 25 researchers from Business Administration, Economics, Informatics and Business Law. It is headquartered at JIBS and has an East Asia branch at Tsinghua University in China and a Latin American branch at University of the Andes in Chile.
WORKING TASK/QUALIFICATION
The selected candidate will conduct and lead research, supervise doctoral students, teach courses in business administration, play a central role in the planned Executive MBA in Media Leadership, and play a central role in the continued development of MMTC and JIBS.
The position is full time and requires a PhD degree in business administration, economics or a closely related field, experience and performance appropriate for appointment at the professor level, and professional command of English. In making the selection importance will be given to achievements and experiences of the applicant in the following areas:
• experience with issues related to strategic management, leadership, innovation, and initiating and implementing change activities
• interest in theory-development, reflected in publications in international scientific journals
• knowledge about media/creative industries, evidenced by research and industry contacts
• experience and accomplishment in attracting research funding
• experience of teaching in different settings (doctoral students, masters students, undergraduates, and executives)
• interest in conducting research close to industry, and translating the scholarly findings into workshops and materials for practitioners and executive MBA courses
• the ability to communicate with academic and professional audiences
• ability to work in joint research projects and team activities
