Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) is looking for a Simulation Engineer. This position will be appointed within Analysis & Verification Management, Powertrain Engineering, located in Gothenburg. Analysis & Verification Management provides engineering resources, complete powertrain feature expertise as well as virtual and physical verification for the industrialization projects within Heavy Duty Powertrain Engineering.
The group Application Engineering & Simulation, within Analysis & Verification Management, is responsible for supporting the development projects with feature expertise for selected features, application engineering and complete powertrain simulations.
Energy Efficiency and CO2 emissions are top priorities within the Volvo Group Technology plan. As we evaluate our options and move forward towards more energy efficient solutions, including meeting new demands for reduced CO2 emission levels, the use of simulations will be a core contributor.
We are now looking for a person, who sees the same potential as we do of using complete powertrain simulations within fuel economy and CO2-emissions development.
Job Description
• Assess complete powertrain features in vehicles e.g. fuel consumption/CO2, driving performance, noise, durability, through complete powertrain simulations using the GSP simulation tool
• Make complete powertrain optimization proposals (SW & HW)
• Recommend test procedures based on vehicle and powertrain simulations. Validate models using test results
• Provide projects with status reports on simulation findings
• Model development
• Actively participate and contribute to networks within GTT to develop simulation methodology, tools, and processes
• Contribute to increased understanding of the potential of simulation within the organization
Required Qualifications
• M.Sc. or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Experience from powertrain development and good understanding of Heavy Duty powertrain product usage
• Preferable previous experience of working with powertrain simulation tools
• Skilled in Matlab/Simulink
• Fluent in English
