Group Design Leader - Powertrain Mounts

The section Air Induction System and Powertrain Mounts is a part of the department Powertrain Installation. We perform the development in our areas from strategy to production start and are responsible for the car's characteristics when it comes to drivability, ride comfort, noise and vibrations. Our two product areas have a major impact on the car's total experience as a final product. We are merged into one section that consists of around 50 people and is divided into three groups, two technical groups and a third group Project & Maintenance. This position is within Powertrain Mounts, we consists of 16 men and women of different ages, background and experience. We are characterized as an open and friendly group where everyone shares their knowledge with each other.

As Group Design Leader you work together with the team to develop technical solutions and documentations to describe the systems and components. You will be the point of contact towards our suppliers and review the solutions they develop. Your responsibility will be to coordinate the work cross functionally between the different attribute groups and the suppliers to find a balanced end result of the different components we are responsible for. The work will be carried out together with a team consisting of design engineers, test engineers and CAE engineers.

Main responsibilities

• Together with the team, develop technical solutions and requirements that describe the systems and its components
• Coordinate the work of the cross functional design and attribute team, securing project deliveries
• Work tight together with suppliers that have development assignments
• Work tight together with build to print suppliers
• Initiate and assure that corrective actions are carried out when deviations occurs
• Set up, manage and follow up the component development time plans
• Communicate the status and forecast for the project to our System Project Leaders and line organisation
• Ordering of test objects, soft tools and bought assignments

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. Mech. Engineering or equivalent work experience
• At least 3 years' experience from product development, preferably from the automotive industry
• Driver's license
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Experience in construction of rubber components is meritorious
• Experience in construction of alumina components is meritorious
• Knowledge about Volvo Car Group's systems KDP and Team Center is meritorious

• Self-motivated with a strong delivery orientation
• High cooperation ability and communication skills
• Structured and flexible
• Used to summarise and present status reports
