The Sourcing organization within SMC consists of 150 people and is organized globally in categories and regions. The goal of Sourcing is to develop and implement the best strategies to influence the supply market according to SMC needs.
SMC Supply is now looking for a Global Sourcing Engineer for the SMC Global sourcing team, who will play a key role in devising the global sourcing strategies, making decisions, and subsequently implementing agreed strategies worldwide. The position will be based in Sweden, preferably in Sandviken, but this is negotiable.
Key performance areas
As Global Sourcing Engineer, you will work with steel forgings and steel raw materials and your responsibilities will, among other things, include:
• Managing your supplier base in areas such as supplier performance, supplier qualification and evaluation, total cost ownership, capacity constraints and quality
• Running supply negotiations, making agreements and drawing up contracts and letters of intention for suppliers together with the Regional Sourcing Engineers
• Managing the supplier base: utilizing synergies and volume benefits or other benefits for the SMC business area
• Driving and implementing sourcing projects, ensuring projects in the project portfolio comply with internal demands, and managing internal stakeholders
• Following developments in the supply market and identifying potential new suppliers
• Making sure that suppliers adhere to Sandvik and SMC polices and guidelines
The role is international and requires a fair amount of travelling, 70-100 days per year.
Your profile
You hold an academic degree in a relevant area, preferably in a metallurgical area, and you are a professional in sourcing, steel trading or steel sales. Furthermore, you have good skills in negotiating and supplier base management or key customer accounts management, as well as good skills in metallurgy and in machining of steel.
To succeed in this position you will need to have highly developed collaboration skills, with which to build effective partnerships, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and good communication skills. In addition, you are self-motivated, energetic and open minded, with the ability to move things forward to deliver results. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is a prerequisite, as English is the corporate language of the Sandvik Group.
