* Identify improvement needs, e.g. from regulatory and customer requirements, project post mortems, team requests, metrics, and personal observations
• Identify and evaluate solutions in terms of SW engineering tools and processes, possibly together with other ABB units, ABB Corporate Research and universities
• Responsible for planning the implementation of improvements and clearly articulate the rationale and business value to all stakeholders
• Drive implementation with clear milestones and deliverables, e.g. as part of the annual process improvement plan, and based on cost/benefit analysis
• Manage the development team through supporting, training and coaching of individual team members
• Responsible for the management of the process improvement budget
• Monitor results and delivered business value (cost savings) and facilitate the sharing of best practices between sites and teams.

You will partner with the product line responsible managers and local line managers to identify the needs of the teams and to jointly develop and execute implementation plans. You will drive our ongoing implementation of agile development in SW and HW development and act as the primary SAFe coach in the organization.

In addition, you will use your managerial experience to prioritize activities and to choose between encouraging bottom-up team initiatives and providing top-down governance. You will drive globally harmonized solutions for development practices and tools.

With a global development organization spread over several countries, this position requires a very strong leader that is self-motivated to get involved and start working within the team. You will seek out advice and guidance as needed, but are able to communicate clearly and can manage multiple initiatives across multiple products and locations.

Your success will be evaluated based on measurable short- and mid-term development and quality cost reductions, improvements of specific KPIs as well as overall R&D productivity and quality.

• Master's degree or higher in SW engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in SW/embedded industry, including SW development (C, C++, C#).
• Proven as an effective people manager; experience in leading SW or embedded development teams and successfully driving process improvement work is strongly preferred.
• Deep technical understanding of SW and HW development for PCs and embedded platforms including state-of-the art SW engineering trends, tools and practices.
• Experience with SW development process models (e.g. SAFe, SDLC, user centric design, SW product line architectures); SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification desirable.
• Lean Product Development expertise desirable and experience in interacting with and leading international, culturally diverse teams.
• "Big picture", system-level perspective, together with strong analysis and problem solving skills to quickly analyze complex issues and situations.
• Strong communication skills (written, oral and presentations) in English
• Willingness to travel up to 20% to other office locations as needed.
